maupay nga gabi ha iyo ngatanan!!
cge, so this week was awesome! so i am loving it here...and im not sure where to start...
so this week are numbers have been the highest they've ever been! it was awesome! we even have less time to work and we are still getting high numbers. and its cuz we are striving our best to be obedient. and so we have been visiting the less active. so we went to sister ibanez who hasn't been to church for 2 or 3 years. and long story short, my first convert baptism in abuyog, her mom lives in alang-alang. and her mom happens to be sister ibanez that we have been visiting. and so we were teaching her about the plan of salvation about our life on earth and we had her read alma 34:32-34 before we came. so we were teaching her on tuesday, and she said that she is going to come to church this sunday(as in yesterday, sunday). and that made us feel so happy, and so i asked her why. and she said that while she was reading our reading assignment, she felt the spirit and it told her that she needed to come back to church. and she didn't want to procrastinate her "day of repentance". and so we were so happy to hear her say that and we felt the joy of bringing souls unto christ, and let me tell you, its awesome!! and guess who came to church!? she did!! and the members were so happy to see her come back. and what was even better, the members saw that we were actually bringing people back to church. and their trust in us increased. cuz the members have had trouble with trusting the missionaries cuz they are pasaway! but we aren't and they know that now. i just cant see why elders would be pasaway. and its cuz they don't understand the atonement. if they knew and understand it, they would take this work seriously. so spencer...prepare for your mission and if you are pasaway (disobedient) ...idk what i'll do to you. maybe its just my mission that is like this...haha
well we also had 5 other less active members come back to church yesterday. as in they haven't been to church for a year or more. so that was so awesome!/...
lets see,,what else,
oh so this morning, i got my 1st hair cut from my Companion!! yikes! its actually not bad. he brought clippers with him. and he basically just buzzed my head. a size four on the top. 2 on the sides..its not the best hair cut but not the worst either. but i saved 50 pesos...thats like $1.10. haha the bayots (gays) are pretty good with the hair cuts. but its kinda creepy that a gay guy loves to cut my hair. but they're pretty good at it. ha well people still call me joe. and kaon ka tai (eat poop). and its so funny cuz now that my companion is american and is about my size we'll turn around and act like we're mad at them and i'll say to them something like "you first" and they get supper scared and they'll say.."it wasn't me it wasn't me!!" (in warayx2) but i love the language. im learning tagalog...oh thats the other thing.
so we were teaching this less active and her nephew is from Baguio(up by manila) which means he doenst know waraywaray. so he only knows tagalog. so we told him that we would teach him, which means i had to speak in tagalog. so i did my best to teach the whole thing in tagalog. and from what i felt like, i did okay. he understood (i think! ha) but it was good practice to see which words i know and don't know and what to study more. but it was cool. i def. wasn't very good. it was really really hard. but it was fun. so thats about where i am in tagalog. its harder to speak it than understand it. i've been so blessed! and i am loving it here. i love the people here! they are so so nice! you wouldn't believe how nice they are! so humble! as for the weather, its been raining every day i think. and my socks have been getting soaked so i have to switch out my shoes.
well thanks for all your prayers! i love you all and pray for you always! count your many blessings, america has it so well! i love my mission and the gospel. don't forget to read and pray! love you all!
Love Elder Nelson
