maupay ng aga family!!
sorry, this will be a little shorter than most..not a lot of time..well this week has been awesome, and VERY HOT!!!! there hasn't been a drop of rain, and there is no clouds! ahh! they said this is like the weather they have in the summer which is during april and may. and so it should start to cool down soon...i hope! but this week, we had our first baptismal interview. Sister Gura has qualified for baptism, and she is getting baptized this week. im so excited! so when we were teaching her, we asked her who she would prefer to baptize her...either her bro.in law, or me, or elder allanic, and she looked at us and said "Elder Nelson" :) so this week will be my first baptism. and when she said that, i felt so happy and felt that i actaully am doing a difference here in abuyog, and that my work is starting to pay off. even tho im not fluent in the language, we're having success. and made me feel like i am needed here, and that i can do this work. cuz for a while, i felt like elder allanic was doing all the work, but now its about even and im doing my part. and i am really starting to feel the joy of missionary work! and i love it!~!! and so excited that she wants to be baptized! she has such a strong testimony!
and this week we have another baptismal interview for another investigator, who is so ready for baptism! and she should be baptized next week, sept 10. i am so excited! we need some male investigators tho, their all girls! ahaha
also this week, yesterday at church our attendance went up from an average of 65 to 88. and lots of investigators came. so that was awesome! and then we had gospel essentials withe our investigators, and they all shared their testimonies and expressed their desire to be baptized. it made me so happy! they are really good investigators. then after that, elder allanic and i got called into the BP office and bro sombilon has a daughter that is being baptized on friday (he's the one that said i'll have a beautiful generation if i marry a filipina haha) and the problem was, he wasn't a full tithe payer, and couldn't baptize his daughter. so he was wondering who would. so we had his daughter come in and asked her "who do you want to baptize you" and she said "daddy".... we all looked at each other, and then we said "well what if daddy can't, who else would you want"? she had to choose between us elders, the BP, or her uncle. and she said "elders" ...we said which elder? she said Elder Nelson. so i will be baptizing her this friday! she is a cute little girl..with a lot of energy..reminds me of...who is the loud one in the family now??haha but i also felt really bad for brother sombilon cuz he cant baptize his daughter. and i wish that he could. and its just so important that we, who hold the priesthood, remain worthy at ALL times! and im so glad for this opportunity to exercise the priesthood. here on the mission, we give tons and tons of blessings, and its so awesome to be able to use the priesthood and help change peoples lives.
One thing that i have really started to gain a stronger testimony for and a stronger appreciation for is the the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. we are really really lucky to be a member of this church and to live during a time that the fulness of the gospel has been restored. i am so grateful that we have a living prophet! and that we have apostles, and priesthood, and we're able to receive revelation from our heavenly father! and for me, i get to watch peoples lives change as they accept the gospel of jesus christ. its just so obvious to me that this is the One, and Only true church on the Earth! i know, with out a doubt, that this is the True church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints! we have to fulness of the gospel, and we need to share it with everyone! its such a special message! i encourage you all to share the gospel with everyone..friends, neighbors,..everyone. this is the time to prepare the world for the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ. i know Jesus Christ lives, and he is our savior and redeemer. i love this gospel! and i love this work!
thanks for all you do! and all your prayers! i love you all, and miss you all!
Love, elder Nelson
